Historic place with plenty of history yet to be written...
Terrible, confusing experience...
I felt the need to post this as this would the third time in returning to this place in being an avid hiking enthusiast. This last time I returned Oct. 2017 I feel I need to make some comments. The food is excellent, the spirits are cold and wonderful, the atmosphere and ambiance is great...it's the service that is lacking in this place. I am from out of town, as was my girlfriend, and we sat at the bar anticipating getting a table for two. It took quite awhile to get a table and when seated in a room with numerous tables, all empty, and then wandered why it took so long to get seated. Then we waited and waited to get served..so we got up and went back to bar area. We then got waited on but it took forever to get food. There was a woman who was done with her shift who made an outstanding effort at getting our order to us(praise to her)...but no one ever came around after our plates were dropped off to ask us if we needed anything, like another drink, napkins, utensils...and ohh yes...desert( they lost out on this one) and yet finally my check..to which I had to walk up to hostess to pay for(not a SOP at this style restaurant). Manager seemed overwhelmed and his countless apologies did nothing for me. They need to hire some servers and pay them and treat them better so they stay on! This is in a prime location in Milford and has curb appeal! I hope others do not experience this sort of service in this establishment.
One of my favorites places. Delicious food, very nice atmosphere, very good prices.
My husband and I were told our wait would be about fifteen minutes. We went to the bar and had a drink. We waited over half an hour before checking in. We got to the hostess and she had no record of our names. Instead of an apology, she and several other staff members gave us excuses about why we wouldn’t be served immediately. We were asked a series of questions as though us not being on the list was highly suspect. Then we were told that a pipe was broken and us getting food at all was unlikely. Blame was transferred to staff members not present. The front people seemed incapable of handling anything. The entire experience was unbelievable, and even after telling them we’d be writing a bad review, nothing was done to remedy the experience. Poor management? Not sure. Just incredibly awful night for us. Don’t give them your business. Too many other great places nearby in this lovely area!
Overall a really nice destination for special occasions
We had a table of 14 on Christmas Eve. Food was well prepared and delicious, bonus as it arrived at the table hot
This place is absolutely wonderful. The service is top notch, no shortage of food portion. The food is fresh and delicious. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly. I love the owner. She is Super.
